Two days of racing were held on September 6 and 7 for the classic Rappahannock Cup with four boats in the spinnaker fleet and seven boats in the non-spinnaker fleet.
The Rappahannock Cup is both an individual boat race as well as a race among yacht clubs. Rappahannock River Yacht Club (RRYC), Yankee Point Yacht Club (YPYC) and Regent Point Yacht Club (RPYC) were represented this year. RRYC repeated as the yacht club winner of the Cup.
Weather for Saturday was excellent with sun and variable light to moderate winds from the South and a troublesome ebbing tide. Sunday’s weather was quite the opposite with blustery winds from the North of 12-16 knots, gusts over 20 with two-foot seas and rain early.
Freedom, Glenn Solt’s Alerion 28, RRYC, with finishes of 2-2-1-1 was first in the non-spin….
