KILMARNOCK—Phillip A. Mumford, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck (BGCNN), recently announced he is stepping down after more than 13 years.
“This is a position that I have held with great pride, knowing that I was leading an organization that has been making a positive impact in our communities for both youth and families,” Mumford said. “However, this past year has been difficult for both me and my family on many levels, and I have come to the realization that it is time for me to reprioritize my life and my family.”
Mumford, who became executive director in 2012, oversaw dramatic growth across the organization. Staff increased from 15 to 55, the annual budget grew from $550,000 to $2.6 million, and, most important, the number of children and teens served more than doubled, from about 300 annually in a modest building in Kilmarnock to more than 800 in all four counties of….
