Marine Corps Birthday Ball
Marine Corps League Detachment 1062 will host a Marine Corps Birthday Ball at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club at 5 p.m. Friday, November 7, to commemorate the 250th birthday of the Marine Corps.
Festivities will include cocktail hour, dinner, traditional cake cutting ceremony, music, dancing and remarks by retired USMC Sergeant Major Robin Fortner. For reservations, contact commandant Jim Schafer at 540-429-0371, or schaferjb@aol.com.
Rotary meetings
The Northern Neck Rotary Club meets at 7:30 a.m. on second and fourth Wednesdays at River Counties Community Foundation, 834 Rappahannock Drive, White Stone. Those interested in the speaker topics or Rotary are welcome.
SAR luncheon
The Richard Henry Lee Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, at the Bayne Conference Center, Historic Christ Church & Museum, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems. Guest speaker John Mason, a descendant of George Mason, will share how George Mason and other patriots instituted the ideal of freedom and equality.

Fiber guild
The Five Rivers Fiber Guild will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, November 10, in Art Room 2 in the Life Enrichment Center at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury, 132 Lancaster Drive, Irvington.
Members will create name tags and discuss their ongoing projects. Visitors and potential new members are welcome.
On Stage
The Nashville-based Americana band, South for Winter, will light up the stage at the Lancaster Elementary School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock, on November 15. The On Stage show, hosted by the Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts (RFA), will begin at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 7 p.m.

Holiday play
The Westmoreland Players, 16217 Richmond Road, Callao, will present “It’s a Wonderful Life” by James Rodgers. Shows will be staged at 7:30 p.m. November 21, 22, 28, 29 and December 5, and 3 p.m. November 23, 30 and December 6 and 7.

History gala
The Northern Neck of Virginia Historical Society will present Northern Neck History on the Half-Shell from 2-5 p.m. November 22, at Ingleside Vineyards, 5872 Leedstown Road, Oak Grove. The gala will offer oysters, beef brisket fried chicken, music by the Tylor Nichols Band, raffles and a silent auction.
