Putting together an historical, record-breaking season is a team effort, but on every team there are standouts. The 2025 Lancaster High School varsity volleyball team—with its 22-7 record and the school’s first state tournament quarterfinal win—had its share of young leaders including junior setter Rory Lally, sophomore libero Addie George and sophomore hitter Lexi VerMeer.

VerMeer earned both the Northern Neck District and Region A player of the year honors with dominant front line play and all-around effort. VerMeer, who seldom came off the court, had an impressive 412 kills on the year, with an average of 5.2 kills per set. She also added 47 blocks and was among the top three on the team in serving aces with 67 and digs with 277.
VerMeer amassed those stats despite a late season injury that kept her out of the final week of regular season matches and the district tournament semifinal.
George led the Lady Devils defense with a whopping 528 digs. She also had 67 serving aces and 62 assists.
Lally handled almost all of the second touches for Lancaster in the crucial role of setter. She had 579 assists on the year and had 281 digs.
Sophomore hitters Kelsie Cox and Kelsey Bishoff, who were named to the all district second team, also topped the team leader boards. Bishoff was sure-handed behind the service line and led the team in aces with 78 and she had 85 kills. Cox had 143 kills and 46 blocks.
Sophomore hitter Izzy Gill led the team in blocks with 48.
