HEATHSVILLE—A new dog kennel business may be opening soon following a recommendation from the planning commission to the Northumberland board of supervisors.
The commission on Thursday, November 20, recommended approval of a related conditional use permit, 9-0. The recommended permit request is expected to go to the board for an additional hearing and action December 11.
Owner John Runkle said the Lottsburg site is ideal because the property is “away from anybody.” The house is not visible from Northumberland Highway “and it’s nothing but woods behind us….
