Northern Neck Audubon seeks help with Christmas Bird Count Dec. 16

Birds of all species and sizes will be counted in the Christmas Bird Count Tuesday, December 16, including brown thrashers and bald eagles.

Some readers may have read or heard recently that the Northern Neck Chapter of the National Audubon Society may not continue. However, thanks to many nature-interested folks stepping forward the chapter will continue, noted acting president Kevin Howe.

The revitalized chapter will sponsor the 10th annual Christmas Bird Count in Northumberland-Lancaster counties on Tuesday, December 16.

Entering its 126th year, the Audubon Christmas Bird Count is the longest continuous citizen science project in North America. This count is a wonderful way for a non-scientist to contribute to science, learn more about birds and have fun….
