In recognition of Black History Month, the Mathews Museum will again host the Ebenezer Baptist Church Choir Men’s Chorus, along with Joshua Allen of Richmond from 2-4 p.m. February 1 at the Cobbs Creek Arts Center, 61 Cobbs Creek Lane, Mathews.
The men’s chorus has been in existence for over 25 years, said Mathews Museum president Tom Robinson. For the past several years the community has joined together at the Arts Center to enjoy the musical talents of the men’s choir.
Herbert Carter, 93, is president of the group, comprised of 11 men ranging in age from 25 to 93, including Edwin Billups, 93. Carter also is known by many as one of the original members of the Dynatones, an R & B group that was popular throughout the region during the 1950s and….
