Irvington Fourth of July parade set for 3 p.m., after farmers market

IRVINGTON—The Irvington Town Council is thinking ahead to warmer, brighter days. On Thursday, February 12,  council solidified the time and date for the annual Fourth of July parade.

During public comment, Irvington Farmers Market director Heather Sheehan said July 4 falls on a Saturday this year. She noted the July market historically brings in the most participation and traffic. With the parade and the market set to fall on the same day, she noted concerns with how the usual morning parade may impact the success of the market, as well as inevitable issues with parking.

Sheehan suggested it may be best for everyone if the parade is held either later in the afternoon or July 3.

With the market ending at 1 p.m., Fran Westbrook suggested giving a couple of hours of a cushion to allow for a transition of traffic….
