A community farewell slated or longtime Lancaster supervisor

LANCASTER—As word spread of the passing of Francis W. “Butch” Jenkins Jr. on May 4, members of the Lancaster community have been sharing their appreciation for his untiring work and unwavering fondness for the place he called home.

Jenkins served on the Lancaster County Board of Supervisors for District 1 from January 1, 1994, to December 31, 2017. Lancaster board of supervisors chairman Ernest Palin recognized Jenkins at the Thursday, May 27, meeting with a moment of silence.

“He was the second-longest-serving board member in Lancaster County history with 24 years of service,” Palin said. During eight of those years, he also served as board chairman.
