A family who fishes together

Cheree Brookover is a wife, mother of three, new grandmother and former 9-5 office worker. Today she rises at 3 a.m. to begin her work in the family’s small commercial fishing business. She was recruited into this glamorous job by her husband, Mike Brookover. And although Cheree does not care for the hours, she says she could never go back to sitting at a desk all day.

Cheree met Mike Brookover when she was a freshman in high school. Mike was a sophomore who knew a “good catch” even then. Yes, Cheree and Mike are high school sweethearts. They laugh easily, poke fun at each other and there is mutual respect between these two. Mike proudly says that Cheree can lift 80 pounds of oysters. However, Mike does most of the “heavy lifting” and Cheree “moves things.”  She makes sure the right things are in the right place at the right time….
