After 33 years of law enforcement, in Kilmarnock and on the water, Otis George plans for retirement

by T. Dickenson
In his 33 years as a law enforcement officer, Otis P. George Jr. of Kilmarnock has been shot, run over and cut, and has torn the cartilage in his knee and dislocated a shoulder.
Most of that happened during his years as a policeman and then town sergeant for Kilmarnock, from 1962 to 1972.
“My slogan has always been, ‘When the going gets tough, the tough get going,’” George said. ‘The harder it got, the more determined I was to come right back… Over the years in town I saw three break-ins and three vandalism attempts and I’m proud to say that in all six the subjects were caught on the spot.”
