
KILMARNOCK—Albert Carter Harding, 95 of Kilmarnock passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024.
Carter was born on June 2, 1929, to Bettie and Franklin Harding. He was a lifelong member of the Kilmarnock community and never met a stranger.
Carter was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 75 years, Lois Virginia. He was also preceded in death by his siblings “Jinks” Harding, Beth Woodward, Lemoine Harding and Straughan Harding.
He is survived by his son, Albert Carter “Buddy” Harding Jr. (Sandy) of Powhatan; and his daughter, Patsy Harding (Vincent) of Kilmarnock; three grandchildren, Stephanie Harding, Jeffrey Harding and Tyler Harding; six great-grandchildren, Cole, Mason, Carlee, Corinne, Sawyer and Jackson Harding.
Carter was valediction of his class at Wicomico High School. It was during his high school years he met the love of his life, Lois Virginia Lewis. They were married after graduating, and began a wonderful life together raising their family. After serving in the Navy during the war in Korea, Carter returned home to do what he loved, working on the water. He spent many years fishing on the menhaden boats, and he would crab and oyster during his spare time and during the offseason.
Carter enjoyed recreational fishing as well, and enjoyed building menhaden boat models. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and Rehoboth Methodist Church, both of Kilmarnock. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and the VFW.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 1, at Rehoboth Methodist Church in Kilmarnock. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Rehoboth Methodist Church.
