Essex High School, which beat rival Rappahannock, 60-28, in the Region A championship last weekend, headed the list of honorees on the All Northern Neck District football team.
Announced this week, the team included nine Trojans on the first-team defense and five on the first-team offense. Additionally, senior lineman Keyshawn Holmes was named the defensive player of the year and coach Todd Jones was chosen by his peers as coach of the year.
Region A runner-up Rappahannock placed five on the offensive first team and three on the defensive first time. The Raiders’ junior quarterback KJ Gaines was named the offensive player of the year.
