Rappahannock High School, which won the Region 1A tournament championship and finished as a Class 1 quarterfinalist, led the list of selections to the all-region softball team released last week.
The Raiders placed five on the first team and Ellen Gaines was named the region coach of the year.
Chincoteague’s senior outfielder Emma Jackson was chosen as the player of the year. Jackson also filled a spot on the first team.
First team selections from Rappahannock were senior pitcher Mackenzie Cauthorn, freshman second baseman Kahler Goodman, junior shortstop Candace Slaw, and junior outfielders Norah Brann and Madison Syster.
The only other Northern Neck players named to the first team were Essex High’s sophomore pitcher Kylie Jones and senior third baseman Payton Jones.
Lancaster had one second team selection in freshman outfielder Ayla Saunders….
