Alvaro Ibañez to unveil ‘The Art of Grieving’

Alvaro Ibañez will display photos and paintings of his daughter, Diana, as well as paintings of his son, Carlos.

Alvaro Ibañez will open a new exhibit from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, November 7, at A-Ibañez Museum and Gallery, 199 Whittaker Lane, Kilmarnock.

To commemorate the birthday of his recently deceased daughter, Diana Saray Ibañez Mapp, Ibañez will display photos and paintings of Diana alongside works honoring his oldest son, Carlos, who died in 2009.

“We call this exhibit ‘The Art of Grieving’ because it shows one of the ways that people cope with loss,” said his wife Denise DeVries.

Ibañez has been in contact with the Cancer Society and hopes to share his art with those who have lost loved ones to the disease.

In addition to this exhibit, Ibañez also has two versions of “The Last Supper” on display in the sanctuary of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church…..
