St. Margaret’s School will present the musical, “Annie Jr.” at 8 p.m. Friday, February 2, and 7 p.m., Saturday, February 3, in the Ball Memorial Gym, St. Margaret’s School, 612 Water Lane, Tappahannock.
Based on the popular comic strip, “Little Orphan Annie,” and adapted from the Tony Award-winning musical, “Annie Jr.” is the timeless story of an optimistic girl who was abandoned by her parents on the stairs of an orphanage in 1930s New York City, reported director of communications and marketing Patricia Brincefield.
Annie is determined to find her parents, despite the underhanded schemes of cruel Miss Hannigan who runs the orphanage, said Brincefield. With the help of the other girls in the orphanage, Annie escapes to The Big Apple, befriends a stray dog, Sandy, and wins the heart of billionaire, Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks who adopts her and finally gives her a forever home.
“Annie Jr.” is produced and directed by musical director Beth Harvey and features a cast of student actors and crew. Both performances are free. Families are urged to attend.
