KILMARNOCK—April Lashawn Carter Smith, 44, of Kilmarnock died Friday, January 24, 2020, at Rappahannock General Hospital.
She was born May 19, 1975 in Richmond, to Ronald Oneal Carter and Dianna LaBlanc Carter.
She was baptized at Sharon Baptist Church and later was a member of New Saint John’s Baptist Church.
April was educated in Lancaster public schools and received cosmetology certification from Northern Neck Technical Center in Warsaw. She attended Norfolk State University in Norfolk.
She is survived by her husband, Damon Smith; daughter, Deja Jenkins; stepdaughters, ShaKyla Smith and ShaKrya Williams; stepson Damier Smith; stepgranddaughters, Zoe and Paris; parents, Ronald Carter and Dianna Carter; grandmother, Pauline Carter; sisters, Connie Hebert, Shelia Baker, Danita McLean and Rolanda Martin; and brothers, Michael LeBlanc and Ronald Harding.
A funeral was held Saturday, February 1, at New Saint John’s Baptist Church. Interment followed at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, Weems.
