Area women golfers compete in 2022 state championships

Thirteen local women golfers competed August 8-12 in the 2022 Virginia State Golf Association Senior and Super Senior Women’s Amateur Championships held a the Homestead Resort in Hot Springs.

Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club (ICYCC) and the Piankatank River Golf Club (PRGC) tied for having the most participants from around the state, reported Christy Pitts of PRGC. There were over 100 participants in this event.

Among the results for these women golfers:

• Kay Stout of ICYCC and PRGC advanced to the third round in the Senior Championship finals.

• Susie Fox of ICYCC placed second in the Senior First Flight final.

• Nina Carter of PRGC advanced to the second round in the Senior Second Flight finals.

• Martha Wiggs of PRGC placed second in the Senior Second Flight Consolation final.

• Vicky Gunn of PRGC advanced to the second round in the Senior Third Flight finals.

• Colleen Robertson of ICYCC advanced to the second round in the Super Senior First Flight finals.

• Chrystal Welch of PRGC advanced to the second round in the Super Senior Fourth Flight finals.

• Christy Pitts of PRGC placed second in the Super Senior Fifth Flight final.

• Molly Gatchell of ICYCC placed first in the Super Senior Fifth Flight Consolation final.

• Ellie Davis of ICYCC advanced to the second round in the Super Senior Sixth Flight Consolation final.
