KING GEORGE—Arthur Randolph Holmes of King George died Saturday, July 23, at Henrico Doctors Hospital in Richmond.
He was born on September 10, 1937, to the late Richard Holmes and Mary Holmes of Rappahannock Academy.
Arthur was raised in Rappahannock Academy and attended school in Caroline County. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church of Spotsylvania.
Arthur served in the U.S. Army for 32 years before retiring. In those 32 years he went to Vietnam three times earning numerous medals. After military retirement he worked as a police officer on Naval Service Weapons Company Military base, retiring after 20 years of service.
Arthur was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
He is survived by his wife, Frances, of 54 years; sons, Charles Reynolds, Richard II, Ryan and Randell Holmes; daughters, Ramona Johnson and Ranetta Holmes; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edna Harris.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 29, at History Land Memorial Park, 11227 James Madison Parkway, King George.
