RICHMOND—Barbara Lindley Nance passed away on March 31, 2024 at her home in Richmond.
Barbara was born September 16, 1937, in Silk Hope, North Carolina, to Elizabeth “Lib” Ferrell and Issac “Ike” Lindley. After meeting her husband at East Carolina University, the couple moved to Virginia where they spent the remainder of their lives together. She was a loving mother, bookworm, baseball fanatic and a deeply adored grandmother.
Along with her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Judge Thomas N. Nance; and her daughter, Kelly Suzanne Nance.
Barbara is survived by her sister, Vicky Brady; youngest daughter and son-in-law, Kris and Jeff Griffin; three grandchildren Matt Griffin, Jacob McCallister and Lindley Starzer; and three great-grandchildren.
In keeping with her nature, her close family will hold a private ceremony to celebrate her life. Additionally, in lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made out to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, where Thomas and Barbara called home for over 30 years.
