Battle of Cricket Hill celebration set July 8

Re-enactors fire their muskets commemorating the Battle of Cricket Hill.

On Saturday, July 8, the Richard Henry Lee Chapter (RHLC), Virginia Society, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), will celebrate the 247th anniversary of the Battle of Cricket Hill.

A ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in front of the earthworks of the American Patriot battle site at Morningstar Marinas, 249 Mill Point Road, Hudgins. The public is welcome.

SAR will muster a color guard dressed in colonial attire of Continental soldiers and militia, reported RHLC president Michael Rhodes. The speaker will be Jeff Thomas, past president of the Virginia Society SAR and current national trustee.
