Bay Rivers Telehealth Alliance posts DEA National Drug Take-Back events

TAPPAHANNOCK—Bay Rivers Telehealth Alliance (BRTA) recently announced National Drug Take Back Month and National Drug Take-Back Day events taking place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 30.

BRTA members and area sheriff’s offices have joined the Take Back initiative to help with the proper disposal of unused or expired drugs with over 10 collection sites in the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck region, reported executive director Donna Dittman Hale. BRTA also supports the year-round availability of drug disposal with drop boxes at Ledwith Lewis Free Clinic and Lancaster, Middlesex and Westmoreland sheriff’s offices.

Unused or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue, leading to accidental poisoning, overdose and abuse. Unused prescription drugs thrown in the trash can….
