KILMARNOCK—Betty Gay Dawson, born November 19, 1932, age 88, of Kilmarnock passed away peacefully at home Saturday, March 6, 2021. She was the youngest of four siblings born to Luther Edwin and Florida Gay Efford.

She married E. W. Dawson December 25, 1950, while working at The Tides Inn (from which she retired after 43 years) and was a member of the White Stone Baptist Church all her life.

She spent most of her life doing things for other people, trying to make their day a little brighter. She also enjoyed being out on the water, fishing, entertaining other people, and if you knew her you know she loved to dance, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with family.

She is survived by two sons, Faron Dawson and daughter-in-law, Pam Harden, and Rodger Dawson and daughter-in-law, Darlene Dawson; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Pierce, Peggy and Edwin.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Interment will follow the service at White Marsh Cemetery, 10958 Mary Ball Road, Lancaster. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
