On September 24, Northumberland High School recognized senior Blake Edwards as the 2018-19 Indian of the Year.
The Indian of the Year is a graduating senior who exemplifies the qualities of scholarship, leadership, sportsmanship, courtesy, conscientiousness and civic virtue, reported NHS principal Travis Burns.
Students are nominated and selected by teachers/staff and serve as ambassadors for the school and as role models for underclassmen, he said.
Blake was presented an NHS letterman jacket and a medallion by Burns. Blake’s senior class photo will be prominently displayed in the hallways of NHS for years to come.
Prior Indian of the Year recipients include Christian Headley in 2018 and Trinity Bea in 2017.
