Board honors two for public service

At the March 30 Lancaster board of supervisors meeting, board chairman William Lee presented awards of appreciation to two people who served the county for many years.

George E. “Sonny” Thomas Jr. was recognized for 21 years as Lancaster’s Commissioner of the Revenue, from January 1, 1996, to December 31, 2016.

Bella M. Edwards retired after 27 years with the sheriff’s department, serving as deputy sheriff, master deputy sheriff and sergeant and first sergeant from June 1, 1989, to November 30, 2016. Edwards continues to assist as a court bailiff. Photo by Audrey Thomasson
