LANCASTER—Bobby Lee Dunaway, 79, entered into eternal life on July 4, 2022.
His wife Helga was his life’s companion of 58 years.
He is predeceased by his parents, Lawrence Lankard and Ella Stuart Stevens Dunaway; brother, Clyde Wayne Dunaway; sisters, Lillian Dunaway Potter and Pearl Dunaway McNeal; and most recently close friend and brother, L. Stuart Dunaway.
He leaves behind not only his loving and attentive wife, Helga, but also a son, Mike; grandson, Hassell; and granddaughter, Willow.; and a special friend and nephew, C. Wayne Dunaway Jr.; and many more nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Bobby was born in Lancaster County on September 22, 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and while stationed in Germany met the love of his life, Helga.
He was a general contractor for most of his life and built their home only miles away from his birthplace. He was known for being a perfectionist and took great pride in his work, and the many young men he mentored in this field of carpentry.
In his spare time he loved to fish, listening and dancing to country music and gardening. His azaleas made him smile, along with all the squirrels and song birds that he fed regularly.
He was an animal lover, especially of cats. Helga would never be surprised when Bobby came home with a cat that needed food, love and safety.
He was a lifetime member of Corrottoman Baptist Church in the Ottoman area. A memorial service will be held and noon July 16, 2022, with a reception to follow in the social hall. Please come and join us in loving memory of this man.
