Book inspires Bethany Women’s Bible Study Group

The Bethany Women’s Bible Study Group from Bethany United Methodist Church, Reedville, spent eight weeks studying Shannon Bream’s book, Women of the Bible Speak and followed up their study with an outreach project supporting Northumberland Elementary School’s teachers and staff.

Women of the Bible Speak describes the lives of 16 women who played important roles in the salvation story.

“These women are heroes of faith and provide inspiration and wisdom applicable to our lives today,” said Lynne Haynie. “In studying their stories, the Bible study group learned more about scripture and each other as they discussed how the biblical women followed God’s direction through difficult times.”

At the last meeting, the group assembled treat bags for Northumberland Elementary teachers and staff. Each treat bag contained candy, snacks, water flavorings and tea as well as personal items like tissues and hand lotion. Each bag was labelled with an inspirational message: Keep Calm and Shine On.

The group will continue to pray for school staff as they face the challenges of this school year, said Haynie.
