KILMARNOCK—Three board members of the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck (BGCNN) recently received awards from the Virginia/D.C. Area Council.
“I have been involved with the Boys & Girls Club of America for 37 years and I have never before seen a club receive multiple awards at an Area Council meeting,” said BGCA regional service director Chet Nichols.
“The bedrock of any solid Boys & Girls Club begins with board leadership. These awards show just how strong the board of the BGCNN is and that they continue to be headed in a good direction,” said Nichols.
The awards were presented at the annual Virginia/D.C. Area Council session held September 27-29 in Roanoke, said BGCNN executive director Phillip Mumford. Area Councils provide an opportunity for securing and maintaining the interest and active participation of board volunteers in national and regional Boys & Girls Club affairs and are a forum for fellowship and networking.
“This year three of our board members were recognized for their passion and dedication,” said Mumford.
