Boys & Girls Club breaks ground on new facility

KILMARNOCK—Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, a new clubhouse for the children of the Northern Neck is officially under way after a groundbreaking on October 29.

“We thought that the fire changed everything, but it did not change our focus, mission, passion or determination,” said Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck (BGCNN) executive director Phillip Mumford.

Some 75 community members gathered at the 517 North Main Street, Kilmarnock site.

Having outgrown their space, the BGCNN launched a capital campaign in 2017 to expand and renovate their existing headquarters. A devastating fire in November 2018 changed all of that. But the finished space….
