The Boys & Girls Club (BGC) movement has a long history of recognizing the outstanding service and contributions of staff and board volunteers. These awards promote engagement, highlight excellence and elevate the value of what happens at the local club level in communities across Virginia.
The Area Council of Virginia recently recognized the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck (BGCNN) with four prestigious awards: Board Member of the Year, Professional of the Year, the CARE Award (Children are the reason for excellence) and Program of the Year.

The Board Member of the Year for 2021 for the State of Virginia is Shawn Lamb, reported marketing and development director Jill Sears.
Lamb has served on the BGCNN board of directors since 2016. She served as president from late 2018 through 2019 and helped see the club through the capital campaign after a devastating fire in 2018.
Lamb worked tirelessly supporting the campaign, talking with contractors and negotiating with the insurance company for an equitable settlement. Her dedication led to the construction of the beautiful new facility in Kilmarnock.
