The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck (BGCNN) recently welcomed five new members to its board of directors: Bob Sutherland, Tashia Elmore, Stanley “Christopher” Lomax, Phillip Williams and Alva Jackson.
“We are excited to have them on board and their expertise will be invaluable in our mission to inspire and enable all young people to reach their full potential and become responsible, caring citizens,” said executive director Phillip Mumford.
Sutherland has a deep belief that youth need to get that “leg up” at a young age before they fall too far behind, said resource development director Jill Sears. He tutored at an elementary school near Houston for three years and has served in many service roles including “Adopt a Family” and scouting.
Sutherland has a bachelor’s with secondary education in chemistry and math and a doctorate in organic chemistry. He used this formal education for 30 years with Shell Global Solutions and has used his education, experience and passions in mentoring and….
