Broadband projects hit stumbling blocks

LANCASTER—While the various projects designed to give residents reliable high-speed internet have been progressing towards completion, a few stumbling blocks are causing delays.

Michele Craddock of the Lancaster County Broadband Authority (LCBA) on Thursday, August 29, told supervisors there is a delay with All Points Broadband (APB) locations south of Kilmarnock due to changes in the routing of lines through the town using Dominion Energy conduit. Those changes led to a renegotiation of the franchise agreement with the Town of Kilmarnock and Dominion Energy, which is still underway. Craddock said completion dates will not be available until the agreement is finalized.

To date, 409 people out of 1,712 locations have signed up for service with APB.

Meanwhile, Broadband Telecom Services (BTS) sold its business to Virginia Broadband….
