Callao has seen a number of new businesses open in the last few years as the revitalization of the business district has gained momentum.
Callao Jubilee, which opened on Mother’s Day 2022, is one of the latest. The opening day was significant for owner Adriana Gonzalez since “Mom and I always wanted to open a store together,” Gonzalez said. Her mother, ill with cancer, sat near the register, enjoying the moment, Gonzalez said, but she passed away later that month.
The tragic death of her mother has brought the family closer together, Gonzalez said, with her brothers Rodrigo and Juan Gonzalez both pitching in to help launch the Callao Jubilee Coffee & Tea Bar. The brothers are hard at work remodeling an Airstream trailer, currently parked next to the store, with plans to offer coffee, tea and snacks later….
