CALLAO—A two-year-old Callao boy died on Friday, September 6, after falling into a septic tank on Gardys Mill Road.
According to Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp, a 911 call was received at approximately 3:50 p.m. reporting that a child had fallen into a well. When first responders arrived, the boy had already been pulled from the tank and CPR had been started.
The child was transported to VCU Health Tappahannock Hospital, where he later died. No other details were provided about how the child fell into the tank, but both Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Northumberland Department of Social Services are investigating the incident, according to Beauchamp.
