Governor Northam Orders Statewide Closure of K-12 Schools

RCC classes will be held remotely from March 18- April 4. The libraries on Rappahannock Community College’s Glenns and Warsaw campuses, including the Richmond County Public Library, will be closed to the public. The libraries remain open for students who need computer and internet access.

Restaurants

The Dub Shack will be closing for the the month of April

Dredge is closed until further notice

Office Bistro is closed until further notice

Sandpiper restaurant is closing until further notice.

Kilmarnock Inn Restaurant Closed, but the hotel is currently open.

The Tavern Café and Gift Shoppe at Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern in Heathsville will be closed for the next two weeks.

Churches

The Lancaster County Ministerial Association has cancelled all remaining community Lenten worship services at Kilmarnock United Methodist Church. The services and luncheons scheduled for March 18, March 25, April 1 and April 8 will not be held. 

St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Kilmarnock has canceled all church worship services and in-person meetings for the month of March, beginning March 15th, 2020. The AA group will still be able to meet in the Fellowship Hall on Friday evenings.

Miscellaneous

The Second Annual Lancaster County-Wide Clean-Up day previously scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2020 has been Cancelled

Irvington has cancelled all public meetings for the town council and planning commission for April 2020.

The Essex History Museum will remain closed until further notice. Meanwhile,  visit www.essexmuseum.org to view fun facts from days gone by.

Effective April 1, 2020, Westmoreland County Museum and its annex buildings will close.

The town of Kilmarnock has closed all of its public parks and facilities due to concerns related to COVID-19.

The Northumberland joint meeting between the school board and board of supervisors tomorrow is canceled and the board instead plans to meet in closed session about a personnel matter.

The five participating boat dealers in Deltaville have announced that the 2020 Boat Show scheduled for the weekend of May 2-3 has been postponed. The weekend of October 24-25 has been selected as a tentative alternative date.

Beginning Monday, March 23, the Rappahannock Record office in Kilmarnock will be closed to public access until the coronavirus threat is over. Customers may use the drop box at the front door, email, phones, or mail to communicate. A staff directory is on page A2 each week.

The Westmoreland County Household Hazardous Waste Collection scheduled for April 25 has been cancelled.

Northumberland County Historical Society (library & museum) is temporarily closed to the public  until further notice due to the Covid-19 virus. The program scheduled for April 19 has been postponed to October 11, 2020.

The Northumberland county courthouse is closed to the public until at least Monday, April 6 due to concerns related to the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Personnel will be available via phone, email, or fax to answer inquiries. All civic, traffic, and criminal cases will be continued by the court with the exception of emergency matters

The Northumberland county government offices are closed to the public due to concerns related to the COVID-19 virus.

Lancaster County has suspended public access to county offices. Residents should conduct business by phone. All public meetings will be rescheduled.
 
The Gloucester Daffodil Festival for April 4th and 5th is canceled
 

Northern Neck Orchestra concerts on March 27 in Kilmarnock and March 28 in Heathsville, have been postponed.

The Easter Egg Hunt, previously scheduled April 11 at Belle Isle State Park, has been canceled.

The Kilmarnock Town Hall is closed to the public. However, business may be conducted online, or by phone.

The Northern Neck Family YMCA will be closed until at least March 29. 

The Lancaster/Northumberland Habitat for Humanity Resale Store in Kilmarnock will be closed until further notice.

The Northern Neck NARFE Chapter 1823 meeting scheduled for April 7, has been cancelled.

The 2020 Grace Church Yard Sale Committee has decided that it is necessary to suspend the May 2 yard sale and related item collection activities.

The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society’s Museum, Library, and Gift Shop are closed to the public for the remainder of March. The administrative office will be open varying hours. Call 804-462-7280 to check with staff before visiting the office. We will re-evaluate public hours at the end of the month. 

Commonwealth Senior Living at Kilmarnock has cancelled all previously scheduled events until further notice.

The Lancaster County Democratic Committee meeting scheduled for Monday, March 23, has been canceled.

The Garden Club of Virginia’s Historic Garden Week 2020 tour statewide has been cancelled, including the Garden Club of the Northern Neck’s Upper Lancaster County tour, previously scheduled for April 22. 

Riverside Health System recently announced no visitors will be allowed for routine visits to inpatients or team members in any of its five hospitals until further notice. Riverside hospitals will allow one person to accompany a patient when in the emergency department, mother-baby unit and the neonatal intensive care unit.

Etudes Ballet School will be closed until March 30

The Animal Welfare League of the Northern Neck thrift shop, 75 S. Main Street in Kilmarnock, will be closed March 16 and plans to reopen when school systems reopen. Please no item donations at this time. For an urgent pet situation call 804.435.0822. A week’s supply of pet food will be available on Friday’s between 2 and 4 pm as a supplement for pet owners unable to afford food for their pets, while our supplies last. 

The spaghetti dinner at Heathsville United Methodist Church, initially scheduled for March 27, has been canceled.

The community lunch and fellowship time, initially scheduled for March 26 at Henderson United Methodist Church in Callao, has been canceled.

RAL Art Center: In the best interest of our staff, visitors, volunteers students and our community, RAL Art Center will close effective March 14th. Currently, we plan to reopen on April 7th.

Beginning March 16 and until further notice, the Lancaster Virginia Historical Society’s Genealogy & Research Library will be open to the public by appointment only.

The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society’s “Genealogy 101” classes scheduled for April 15 and 29 are postponed to June 17 and 24.

Beginning Monday, March 16, the Northern Neck Family YMCA has postponed the following programs until March 29: youth programs, child watch, preschool, before & after school care, SilverSneakers, first tee golf, LIVESTRONG, Pedaling with Parkinson’s, and diabetes support classes.  All group exercise classes will be limited to 20 people per class. 

Rappahannock Westiminster Canterbury:
No visitation to health care areas. Closed to functions. Operations open only to residents.

Weight Watchers, St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Kilmarnock, Monday evening meetings cancelled March 16 and March 23
