Capt. Billy Pipkin’s Fishing Line

by Capt. Billy Pipkin

We’ve all heard “Fish Stories”—some tall tales, some long tails and this incredible “Tarpon Tale”…

Joe An, an accomplished kayak fisherman, has fished the whole east coast and landed countless fish from his 14 foot Hobie kayak. He is accompanied by a GoPro helmet and boat camera that records his light tackle trophies being caught and released from his well equipped fishing machine that appears to carry a greater arsenal than a battleship.

Speckled trout, rockfish, puppy drum and a variety of other species including cobia have become famous on his youtube channel ComeOnFish01 as they slide over the side of his kayak.

Then there was the moment when his seemingly endless pursuit of landing a tarpon on light tackle came to fruition. It happened last week in a most unexpected location—the Northern Neck.
