Carole was born in 1934 in Akron, Ohio. A year later, her family moved to Wilmington, where she was raised until moving to Richmond. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and Johnston-Willis Hospital School of Nursing where she practiced her nursing career for 30 years.

Being an avid sports fan of VPI, VMI, VCU, UNC, Liberty, US Naval Academy and Hampden Sydney, Carole enjoyed spending time with her family at different sporting events, river life, wildlife, water events, weekends with “The Rivah Bunch” (nursing friends and spouses). She also enjoyed reminiscing and watching the glorious sunsets while in Deltaville, tennis or golfing at Westwood Racquet Club, Piankatank River Golf Club, Indian Creek Yacht and County Club and CCV.

Retiring years with her husband Jim Wiley were happily shared on the road between Richmond (Cedarfield), Reedville and Deltaville; with frequent trips to VMI or Annapolis stating that “they were blessed with the best of two worlds.”

They were committed to their churches, Westminster Presbyterian and Derbyshire Baptist in Richmond; and St. Mary’s Episcopal in Fleeton where they were married in 2007.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 18, at Cedarfield, 2300 Cedarfield Parkway, Richmond, VA 23233. Inurnment will be private.

Carole’s family would like to express sincere thanks to the Cedarfield staff, Drs. Shear and Cook, Ennis, Kendall, Melodie, Mary, Bemnet, Jessica and Diana with Traditions Healthcare.
