RICHMOND—John Randolph “Rand” Hooper is denying allegations he covered up an August boating accident in Lancaster County which resulted in the death of his friend, Graham McCormick, 31, of Georgia.
“Rand is denying that he is liable for this and it is up to the estate [of McCormick] to prove otherwise,” said Hooper’s attorney, Chris Abel of Norfolk.
McCormick was visiting Hooper at the Hooper Estate, 656 Glebe Road, Irvington, the weekend of August 10 through 13. His body was spotted by a passing boater on Carter Creek near the end of Weems Road around 11:30 a.m. August 11.
