Cash places first at Iron Asylum Classic

after Cash placed first in his division at a powerlifting competition in Virginia Beach.

Clayton Cash of Heathsville won first place in the 16- to 17-year-old division at the second annual Iron Asylum Classic recently held in Virginia Beach.

Cash competes in the U.S. Powerlifting Association bench press, squat and dead lift.

His top lifts in the Virginia Beach classic were 330 pounds in the squat, 270 pounds  in the bench press and 340 pounds in the dead lift. Cash set several personal records, according to his mother, Liza Cash.

Cash is a senior at Northumberland High School and trains locally with Brandon Jones, certified personal trainer at the Northumberland Family YMCA and Abilities Abound Physical Therapy and Wellness Center.
