The Lancaster Players recently announced auditions for “What Is ‘Murder’?,” a mystery-comedy by Emmy-award winning playwright Ken Levine. Director Karen Stanley is seeking actors of all experience levels to bring this witty and intriguing production to life.
“We are casting a diverse range of roles,” said Stanley. “No prior theater experience is required. Just bring your passion and energy.”
Auditions will be held April 8 and 9, at 7 p.m. at The Lancaster Players Playhouse in White Stone, 361 Chesapeake Drive. Those who audition are asked to be prepared for cold readings from the script.
The play follows a group of quirky characters as they navigate a twisted plot of deception, intrigue and unexpected humor. Four former Jeopardy! champions meet for a weekend to prepare for the Tournament of Champions. When one of the brainiacs meets an untimely demise, an officious, smarter-than-he-looks detective enters into the mix.
The game show champions include pretentious, full-of-himself Jerome; weirdly “Goth” Eustacia; Nicole, an intense influencer; and super-smart Kyle.
Performances are planned June 6-8, 13-15 and 20-22.
Those who wish to audition but cannot attend the scheduled evenings may call 435-3776 and leave a message.
