Cay R. Weimer

IRVINGTON—Cay Ramey Weimer died on June 15, 2026, in Irvington. She was born on September 27, 1937, in Winchester, to parents John Mason and Anais Cay Ramey, who preceded her in death.

Cay grew up on a farm near Marshall and was a graduate of National Cathedral School in Washington, D.C., and Sweet Briar College.

In 1959, Cay married Louis Whisnant Howard, who predeceased her in 1990.

Cay married Ben Weimer in 1993 and they resided in Goochland County and Richmond until they moved in 2017 to Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury in Irvington.

She is survived by her best friend and much loved husband, Ben Weimer; daughter, Cay Craig (Brad) of Charlotte, North Carolina, grandson, Carter son Whis Howard (Laura) of Richmond; granddaughter, Eliza; brother, John Ramey (Faye) of Warrenton; nephew, JM Ramey of Richmond; and niece, Molly Ratchford (Randy) of Charleston, South Carolina.

Cay was active in the Junior League, the Colonial Dames, the Council of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Goochland Garden Club and St. James’ Episcopal Church, where she served on the vestry. She was also a long time communicant at the St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

One of her favorite pastimes was painting portraits of family and friends and numerous vacation homes. Cay was always happiest when family was gathered, with an opportunity to listen and dispense her wit and wisdom.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, at the Marshall Cemetery in Marshall.
