KILMARNOCK—It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cecil Thomas Rozell on October 21, 2026, at the age of 93. He passed away peacefully, at home, while maintaining his independence and dignity until the end.
Born on September 1, 1933, in Lincoln County, Tennessee, to the late Lee Roy and Lola Mae Rozell, Cecil spent his life serving his country and pursuing his passions. He proudly and loyally served in the United States military, receiving an honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps as a field artilleryman, as well as serving in the United States Army and Army Reserves as a Military Police officer. His deep loyalty and service to his country was something he displayed proudly every day of his life.
In addition to his military service, Cecil was also a certified scuba diver and a true boat aficionado. He had a great love for the Chesapeake Bay, fishing, Civil War history, and sharing good stories with those around him.
He was deeply connected to his community, which he truly considered home, and he will be greatly missed by his family, many special friends, and the generous people of the community who knew him. He is survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
In accordance with his wishes, his body was donated to Medical Science for research and education. His remaining ashes will be set sail in the Chesapeake Bay in a private celebration of his life at a later date.
Fair winds and following seas, until we meet again, Semper Fi.
Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
