REEDVILLE—Charles “Ed” Edward Timberlake Jr. died Saturday, February 6, 2021, after a courageous and hard fought battle with COVID-19.
He was born January 2, 1954, in Richmond to Ruth and Charles Timberlake Sr. Ed spent his youth in Providence Forge where he forged lifelong friendships and graduated from New Kent County High School.
He served as a member of the volunteer rescue squad and a deputy of Charles City County before being accepted into the Virginia State Police Academy. After graduation, he was assigned to Northumberland County, Division 1, Area 2 office. It was there that two fellow troopers introduced him to the love of his life, Patsy Jett. They married in 1979 and settled in Reedville, where they had two daughters.
After retiring from Virginia State Police due to health issues, Ed went on to work in the private sector for G.E. Financial Assurance, Pinkerton and Anthem.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 37 years.
He is survived by his daughters, Anna Belle and Alice, close friends, and his “adopted” children (all of the friends that both daughters brought home), all of whom he loved dearly.
There will be a memorial at a later date and private graveside service for family on Monday.
Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
