WEEMS—Charlotte Mae Abbott Dunaway, 84, of Weems joined her beloved high school sweetheart and husband Cosby Dunaway in heaven on February 22, 2019.
He has been waiting almost five years for her arrival. This was a most joyous celebration for them to be reunited again after 60 years of marriage.
Charlotte was born May 16, 1934, the daughter of the late Luther E. and Florence Gordon Abbott. She was a very dedicated lifelong member of Claybrook Baptist Church and president of the Madge Wright Circle.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Dunaway Brittain; son, Craig Dunaway (Kim), two grandchildren, Christopher Blake (Brittany) and Carrie Dunaway; her brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Dianne Abbott; and her nephew, Todd Abbott (Beth). Also her companion and four-legged grandson, Tigger II.
She was proceeded in death by her son-in-law, Gary Brittain.
Charlotte’s journey through life took her through all 50 states, Canada and the Bahamas.
Charlotte was a volunteer at Rappahannock General Hospital and a retired claims assistant with Northern Neck Mutual Insurance Company.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, at Claybrook Baptist Church, Weems, with Rev. Dennis Martin officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
