
Chesapeake Academy started the 2023-24 academic session with convocation on Wednesday, August 30.
Board chairman Ronald Mihills installed the 12th head of school, Max O. “Trip” Cogburn III.
“Trip understands that education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. He understands that the best teachers teach from the heart, pouring themselves, heart and soul into the best outcomes for students. And Trip Cogburn is invested in CA…he is delighted to be raising his family in Irvington so that his two children can experience a Chesapeake Academy education,” said Mihills.
Cogburn explained the school’s character theme, setting the focus and intention for the school year. This year’s theme of “Together” follows previous themes of integrity, connection, perseverance, empathy, kindness and trust.
Directing his thoughts to the student body, Cogburn said, “As you survey the world we all occupy in 2023, there’s a great deal of energy focused on the individual. Too often, we are encouraged to think about how we can be noticed, instead of how we can be helpful, or to consider….
