All three of Chesapeake Academy’s basketball teams recorded victories last Thursday over over ISAC rival Ware Academy.
In the first game, the junior varsity Ospreys (1-1) beat the Waves, 17-2. Spencer Cammarata led all scorers with 6 points.
In the girls game, the Lady Ospreys (4–0) led from start to finish and won 19-14. Abby Souders dropped in 8 points, Elizabeth Stanley 7 and Emma Smith 6. Smith also added 2 blocks.
In the boys varsity game, the Ospreys (1-3) won 37-35.
After trailing most of the contest, the Ospreys took the lead for the first time at the end of the third period on a Ben Antonio steal and basket, followed by a 3-pointer by Michael Branson.
The tense back-and-forth battle continued through the fourth period in front of a loud Ware home crowd. Regulation time ended in a 29-29 tie after two late Waves free throws. In overtime, Ashton Hollingsworth drained two 3-pointers and with the game tied at 35 and 9 seconds remaining, the Ospreys went the length of the court and Branson hit a short floater as time ran out.
Hollingswith led the Ospreys with 10 points, and 7 rebounds. Orie Bullard contributed 8 points and 6 rebounds.
Chesapeake will visit Aylett Country Day School today, January 19. The JV game will begin at 4 p.m.; varsity girls, 5 p.m.; and varsity boys, 6 p.m.
