Jill Herman grabbed a photo with Chessie, the Chesapeake Bank mascot, in front of a large photo of the financial institution’s floating bank. The “Boat ‘N Bank” was launched in 1968 to serve workers at the Irvington oyster packing plant. The boat also appeared on the cake at the reception following the annual shareholders meeting. The reception launched a yearlong celebration of the bank’s 125th anniversary. The bank, founded on April 13, 1900, will celebrate its monumental anniversary throughout the year. Chesapeake Financial Shares Inc., holding company of Chesapeake Bank and Chesapeake Wealth Management, held its 124th anniversary annual shareholders meeting Friday, April 4, at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury in Irvington.
The company reported earnings for 2024 at a 12.9% increase over 2023 earnings.
Along with the numbers, chairman, president and chief executive officer Jeffrey M. Szyperski presented banking industry trends and insights.
