On Thursday, March 21, children’s author and illustrator Michelle Nelson-Schmidt gave a motivational presentation to children from the Northern Neck Family YMCA and the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck after-school programs.
Nelson-Schmidt told the children about her creative writing and illustration process. She recounted how the stories originated from her imaginative mind and caring heart, reported YMCA community development specialist Tom Martin. She also exhibited artwork from her books and shared how her artistic talent took years of school and practice to refine.
