Artist Allyson Childress’ work has been accepted into The Smithsonian Institution’s annual Craft2Wear show.
The juried show “celebrates the work of America’s best craft and design artists” and will take place September 27-29 at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.
Childress works with porcelain and crystalline glazes to create jewelry collections that customers say “help them express their inner self,” reported Childress.
Her most recent collection draws inspiration from her spring garden in Weems as well as her growing collection of vintage fabric, she said.
The public is warmly invited to view her newest collection from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Daily Magic, 235 Steamboat Road, Irvington.
Refreshments will be provided alongside a charm bar where guests may make their own custom necklace or bracelet with pieces from the New Romantics Collection. RSVP at www.dailymagicshop.com.
