Seventeen hand-painted crab-basket lids are on display along the sidewalk at the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum’s Watermen’s Park on Main Street, Reedville.
Carolyn Schrote, a Northumberland Middle School substitute teacher, hosted a gathering of adult friends to paint some crab baskets for the community tree at the park. At her suggestion, Northumberland Middle School art teacher Heather Cockrell had her eighth grade art students paint the leftover lids interpreting a Northern Neck or Reedville Christmas.
